Anime Expo Autograph Guide 2024

It's been a while since my last convention guide blog, I apologize for the delay. this blog aims at guiding you through the Anime Expo autograph process and aims at answering any questions you may have. I do not work for and have never worked for Anime Expo, all information has been taken from their website but the autograph procedures are spread out between 6 different links.

Updated 6/15/24 due to this post.

The Gates

The Anime Expo campus will be surrounded by gates this year. You will be able to enter the campus only through these 5 gates and once you're inside you are able to freely go throughout the convention grounds. You can use the AX crossing on the closed Pico street to go between the halls this year. A big change this year is that *Attendees will not be able to enter the venue perimeter without a valid AX General Admission badge. If you have to pick up your badge then you can head over to Chick Hearn Ct, it is closed off this year and that's where you can get info services.

This change means that you cannot camp overnight inside the campus and you cannot have someone without a badge line up for you. All gates open at 9 AM, the closest gate to the autograph line is the Ai Gate.

Update 6/15: We got confirmation that the Autograph Ticketing Booth is located inside the AX Campus perimeter at the Gilbert Lindsay Plaza at AX Crossing. This area will not be accessible to anyone without an AX badge.

Autograph Schedule

The first step for acquiring an autograph would be to look at the schedule. There are three types of autograph types: Guest of Honor, Industry, and Standard. All of GOH are free with autograph ticket, all of Standard require payment at the autograph table, and Industry is a mixture of both.

Industry: There are three ways to get these depending on the guest: Win a raffle, Spend a certain amount at the respective booth, and complimentary by lining up in the autograph line.

Guests with a standard tag do not require you to line up in the morning. You can go to the autograph signing area during their scheduled time.

As of writing this blog, June 5th, the autograph schedule is incomplete and more will be added.

Autograph Ticket Line

The autograph line this year has changed. It will no longer be in the middle of gilbert Lindsey Plaza but instead alongside the convention center. Picture below:

The autograph booth will open at 8 am and closes at 1 pm day 1-3. It takes about 2 minutes to walk from AI gate to line 1.

Update 6/14: The autograph ticket area is just for picking up Guest of Honor tickets if you acquire an Online Reservation for them beforehand. You cannot pick up a GOH ticket you did not acquire beforehand. There is no camping in this area overnight and the only tickets you can pickup without online reservation are some Industry and all of the standard ones.

Update 6/14: The update had this section "All unofficial line queues will not be recognized by Anime Expo." And I wanted to talk about it. Its solely meant for the autograph line. You, or others, cannot start an autograph line outside the perimeter and expect Anime expo volunteers or staff to guide your line to the autograph area. It is not meant to say you cannot line up outside the gates like in previous years.

Autograph Signing Area

The autograph signing Area has moved this year into the JW Marriott hotel. Both areas opens at 11 AM. You will not be allowed into the GOH area without your GOH autograph ticket unless you're and ADA helper. You can line up for the Gold Ballroom for as many autographs as you'd like that you're willing to pay for of Standard Autographs. You will need an industry autograph ticket for an Industry guest.

Other Information

Ticket distribution starts at 8 AM each day and promptly ends at 4 PM on Days 1-3 and begins at 8 AM and ends at 1 PM on Day 4. Tickets are distributed only for the autograph sessions scheduled on the same day. Tickets are only valid for the date and time of the selected autograph session.

Update 6/15: After 1PM, autograph tickets will be distributed at the autograph Area at the JW Marriott Gold Ballroom. Tickets are limited and it’s on a first come first serve basis.

All items are subject to the Guest’s approval. All items must be properly licensed, and it is recommended that the item is from a project that the guest has worked on. Rules and restrictions on what will or will not be signed are subject to the Guest. Each Guest will be in charge of the cost for autographs, photos, videos, and any other services provided at their time sessions.

I will update this page as new information for autograph procedures comes out. You can find more information about autographs under the Autograph section of Legal. (Yeah it's a bit weird the good information is here instead of the main autograph page.)
